Guild Wars Factions World Championship
Guild Interview: Black Emperor [bE]

The Guild Wars Factions World Championship is coming up, and it's anybody's guess as to who will take first place and bring home the trophy. For one German guild this will be a special event, because it won the Wartower League, giving it the right to challenge a Guild Wars Faction Championship team. Here is what Black Emperor [bE] has to say about the upcoming event.

Q. Who in your guild designs the team builds you use, or is it a group effort?

There are two to three people who come up with a basic idea for a build. The rest of the guild then comes up with suggestions to improve it, and we try to tweak it together.

Q. How much time do you guys spend practicing together?

We mainly play for fun, so we practice when the majority of people are online. We rarely have scheduled practice time.

Q. Does the guild usually use the same core players for all of its competitive matches, or do you switch out often?

We are a rather small guild with 9 to 11 active players, who all have the same rights. Normally, nobody has to stay on the bench. Of course, in GvG every player has a specific class he plays all the time, but we change our build frequently, so nobody is left out for long. We also have some smurf guilds in our alliance to kill time.

Q. Which of the participating guilds is the big favorite to win the GWFC in your opinion?

We think that The Last Pride will defend its title, although Esoteric Warriors and War Machine might have a word in this.

Q. Is there anything special you are doing to prepare for Leipzig?

We try to practice a lot with the team we are fielding to ensure we are in peak condition for the event.

Q. Do you think you can beat the champions?

We will try to fight as well as we can and give them an interesting fight. If that will be enough, we cannot say ;)

Q. What was your philosophy behind choosing the builds you have run so far?

We try to keep our build balanced, with enough defense in it to have an advantage at Victory or Death.

Q. Did you choose your build to play to your team's strength, or what you felt was your foe's weakness?

We try to play to our strength and force our game upon our opponents.

Q. Which match do you feel was the most interesting/challenging for your guild?

Definitely the deciding battle in the Wartower League (GWLD) against Der Schwarze Mantel [DSM]. We had to give all we had to beat them.

Q. What has been the "highlight" moment for your team?

The win of the Wartower League, which made it possible for us to go to Leipzig and play against a GWFC team. Thanks to the Wartower League Commissioners again.
